Well, my second proof copy has arrived from the USA and despite my best hopes, I’m still finding errors in the text. 😦
I asked my significant other if she’d read through it for me… a fresh pair of eyes, and all that. However, after five weeks of gathering dust (the book, not me!), I realised I’d have to undertake the task myself. *sigh*
After hundreds of read-throughs, I’m having real trouble concentrating on the text and find myself drifting along with the narrative instead.
Why, I keep wondering, do these text errors continue to plague my MS? I like to think I’m meticulous with my grammer and, speeling. I can only imagine the errors are typos I’ve somehow missed.
True, my typing isn’t perfect. As It gets faster, mistakes begin to appear, so I temper my speed to keep the typos down. However, impatience can sometimes bite and my fingers will get carried away, often typing faster than my brain (that only takes eight words a minute, usually!).
So this week finds me ploughing (yes, that’s how it feels after 500+ reads) through the paperback, hoping to upload and receive a corrected version before the end of July.
I have to – a couple of Floridian friends are keen to see a paperback copy in early August.
Anyway, back to reading…
In the meantime:

I’ll make you a deal — if you send me a proof copy, I can go through it for you and proofread. Not to toot my own editing horn, but I do that sort of thing for my job, and I’m quite good at it 🙂 And if you can send me a paper version that I can carry around and flip through and whatnot, I stand an excellent chance of getting it done inside a week or two. Then I can either send the proof copy back to you, or type up the errors and email them back to you, depending on how much I find. In return … maybe a modest little shout-out in the acknowledgements? 😀 Oooooh and I can make you beta read my novel. Ahahahahahahahaha.
Anyhoo, if you do want to take advantage of my proofreading services, get the book to me ASAP, because starting on August 16th I’m off to help out with my best friend’s wedding, and then I’m moving, so up until then is ideal proofreading time!

Michelle, you’re a star. No, you’re a binary system… with a Klemperer Rosette orbiting it!
The best way I can think of doing this is for me to okay the Createspace version and let it go live ‘as is.’ then ask them to send a copy to your address. I’ve begun struggling through the novel, but I’m concerned I may not be concentrating on it properly. A fresh pair of eyes would be very, very useful in this situation.
Oh, and I would be very happy to beta-read your latest baby. 🙂

Excellent! I shall await the arrival of said novel — give me a heads up when it ships so I can keep an eye out for it. Do you have my address?
